The David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLLCC) is a landmark eco-friendly venue situated on the Allegheny Riverfront in downtown Pittsburgh. Owned by the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA), the center was constructed as part of the landmark Regional Destination Financing Plan and opened in stages between 2002 and 2003.

SEA Ownership & Stewardship

As the public owner of the facility, the SEA is responsible for capital maintenance, major structural improvements, equipment replacements, and long-term asset preservation. Operations, event scheduling, and day-to-day facility management are managed under contract by ASM Global.

Architectural & Environmental Significance

Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, the facility features a distinctive swooping roofline that utilizes natural river breezes for natural ventilation in the main exhibit hall. It holds the distinction of being the first convention center in the world to earn LEED Gold Certification for new construction and later LEED Platinum Certification for existing building operations.

Public Riverfront Integration

The Convention Center features a publicly accessible riverfront park line and water feature, connecting 10th Street directly to the Allegheny Riverfront Trail network maintained in partnership with Riverlife and the SEA.

SEA Public Ownership & Stewardship

SEA owns the land and building structure, oversaw its $373M green building development, and stewards major capital improvement investments in partnership with facility operator ASM Global.

Accessibility Standards

Fully ADA accessible with zero-grade riverfront plaza access, accessible elevators to all levels, wheelchair companion seating in lectures, tactile signage, and hearing assistance systems.

Parking Infrastructure

Direct underground 700-space parking garage with accessible spaces, EV charging stations, and direct elevator access into the main concourse.
